From November there are new FSA rules that state mobile phone conversations relating to transactions in the bond derivatives, equities and financial commodity markets must be recorded and stored to help deter and detect market abuse in the UK

What do the FSA Call Recording Rules mean?

FSA rules will require that call recording and storage , for six months – of all ‘relevant communications’ on business issued mobile phones and other handheld electronic communication devices.

Firms have to ensure that:

• Calls are recorded and stored, for a period of 6 months

• They take reasonable steps to prevent ‘relevant conversations’ taking place on private mobiles, private handheld mobile electronic communication devices, and private non-mobile electronic communication devices.

Who’s affected?

The new rules will impact investment firms including all banks, stockbrokers, investment managers and financial and commodity derivatives firms.

According to the FSA this could affect around 16,000 financial employees in the UK.

When is the Mobile Recording deadline?

The FSA have stated these changes to their taping rules will be effective from 14 November 2011. So financial companies should act now to meet the mobile call recording deadline.

What’s the Cost of Mobile Call Recording?

The FSA have stated that the implementation of mobile call recording could cost up to £10,000 per employee based on an estimate by an Investment Bank.

However costs from Hosted VoIP Companies such as Voicenet Solutions will be a tiny fraction of this cost.

How Long will it take to set-up Mobile call Recording?

The process is a matter of days, and with Voicenet Solutions a specific app for each phone would need to be downloaded. T0 complete this download saving time and resource, you can use the IT manager, VIA the Blackberry Enterprise Server.

Formula 1 always put the effort in for a decent app. And now you can get it on Nokia. Formula1.com has re-jigged the app to make it available on the Nokia handset. However, bad news is that it doesn’t feature the new feature which has push notifications – but it does have its fair share of enhancements.

This does annoy me a bit. Why isn’t it fully featured for the Nokia APP?

However, a top Formula1 fan should be able to get enough data and stats (that we all love) on their Nokia handset. There’s straight-line speeds and text commentary plus a circuit data screen which is ideal for track positions gauging. It even shows the current air and track temperatures, rainfall, air pressure and humidity levels, wind speed and direction. In fact, almost all the data that the F1 commentators and teams can see, you can pretty much see too. You can also check out full results for the current season and check out the dates of future grand prix.

Probably at its best as a companion while watching a race, this is one comprehensive app. An essential for fans of F1 who will love the exhaustive information available.
Our rating. 3.5 out of 5.

Question: Would you buy a Nokia tablet? Absolutely, but on one proviso, that it is better than everything out there. And when we say everything we ofcourse mean the iPad.

Stephen Elop, CEO of Nokia has said as much about the iPad too.

“Our team right now is assessing what’s the right tablet strategy for Nokia—how does that fit in? I will tell you this that’s most important: There are now over 200 different tablets on the marketplace. Only one of them is doing really well. And my challenge to the team is: I don’t want to be the 201st tablet on the market that you can’t tell from all of the others.”

We like the way Nokia has kept its powder dry and waited for the market to mature. But if the Finish gaunt is going to produce a tablet that can compete with the iPad as well as beat all the other 200 tablets from LG, Samsung etc who have leapt on the bandwagon, what operating system are they going to use?

Stephen Elop responded:

“We have a number of options in the tablet computing space given the changing strategy that we have. For example, we could take advantage of Microsoft technology and software and build a Windows-oriented tablet, or we could do things with some of the other software assets that we have.

We’d love to see a Microsoft tablet on Nokia hardware. Nokia phones were in everyones pockets in the early 2000s, if they really do take on the tablet market, maybe everyone who is beginning to get sick of Apple will now place them in the briefcases too.

Stephen Elop went on, “We have to take a uniquely Nokia perspective, and so the teams are working very hard on something that would be differentiating relative to everything else that’s going on in the market.”

We will keep you updated on the Nokia Tablet – we personally can’t wait and though there may not be 1000s of people queuing for it all the way round the block, like the freaks that purchase Apple products, we most certainly will be camping out in Helsinki for the launch.
